Surveys and services

Common surveys and services for tracts of land

  • Boundary Survey

Finding your property lines and corners: before fencing or clearing, or for a question with a neighbor.

  • Plats

Dividing land, or combining properties or parts of them: plats prepared for city and county submittal and recording.

  • Title Survey

Buying or selling land: boundary lines, rights-of-way and easements, for buyers, sellers, lenders and title companies.

  • Topographic Survey

Planning a home, barn, pond or driveway: the contours and elevations of the land.

  • Tree Location Survey

Clearing land: the trees on it, located and recorded for city requirements and design.

Custom homes and builds

Building on your land: the process

For a custom home or other building on acreage, the surveys usually come in this order.

Before you build: often done together

  1. Boundary Survey

    Your property lines and corners.

  2. Topographic Survey

The lay of the land, for planning the house, driveway and drainage.

  3. Tree Location Survey

The trees to plan around or clear, for design and city permits.

During and after the build: separate visits after the boundary

  1. Lot Stake (Pins)

Your corners and lines marked on the ground before you build.

  2. Form Survey

The foundation forms checked before the slab is poured.

  3. Grade (Drainage) Survey

The finished grade and drainage around the building.

  4. Title Survey

The final survey, for closing. A new title survey may also be needed when you first buy the land.
